randomness

I use the term "random" a lot, but here's the hard truth: I really don't believe life is random. Sometimes my thoughts are random, and sometimes the things others do or say are random, but I don't believe in any randomness when it comes to important things.

I believe that God created each and every one of us to be a special individual being. I believe that He cares for each one of us. I believe that this world we live in is broken, but that God is most interested in restoration and redemption.

I believe that circumstances aren't random. For example, I don't think that I went across the country to go to college in a random decision. Back then, I would have said that I just wanted to get away from my parents (truth). But in hindsight, I see how God used that particular school and those particular people in my life.
If I wasn't a Christian, I would have said that it was a random thing that I got this job in Colorado while my family all was already living here. But I know it was a huge gift from God to live near and be involved with my family again.

So, I will admit that some things, some of the time, happen randomly. But when it comes to the important stuff, I know who is really in charge.
